Posted on LinkedIn by somebody with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.... it's not her fault if she wasn't taught correctly about the Toyota Production System and Lean.
My thoughts:
To label the Toyota Production System as an “efficiency” system is inaccurate. TPS is about flow (which is not the same as “efficiency”) and quality at the source.
Toyota system is basically about cost reduction that is efficiency improvement. The pioneering route championed by Toyota is elimination of temporary delays and storage/inventory requirement. Quality at the source is part of that inventory elimination strategy. Toyota - Industrial Engineering Activities and Jobs
ReplyDeleteNo... check out the Toyota website on TPS. It's about quality as much as it is about efficiency or flow.
